SWG Construction is pleased to confirm that work has officially commenced on a new multipurpose facility that will provide significant benefits for both residents and pupils in the heart of Gwyddelwern.
The £2.7 million scheme will deliver a new community hub and school extension at Ysgol Bro Elwern. The project is part funded by the Welsh Government through the Welsh Language Capital and Universal Primary Free School Meals grants, supporting the delivery of a new classroom and a state-of-the-art kitchen for the primary school.
The community hub is funded by the UK Government as part of a wider programme investing in 10 capital projects aimed at protecting Ruthin’s unique heritage while strengthening wellbeing and supporting rural communities.
The new hub will feature a large hall and flexible meeting spaces, providing high-quality facilities for social, educational and community use. The school will also benefit from a new classroom, modern kitchen and ancillary spaces, with access to the onsite hall to support a wide range of activities. The building will be managed by the Community Council and will accommodate Cylch Meithrin, alongside use by the school, local community groups and the Post Office.
