Our charity commitments for 2022 – an update on our progress

You may remember that SWG Groupย pledgedย to raise money for a range of charities this year as we celebrate our 20th anniversary in business. And weโ€™re doing just that! We gave an update to our progress inย Mayย and while weโ€™ve been keeping you up to date on our social mediaย channels, we thought it was about time we created a helpful round up of what our staff have been up to.

ย COMPLETED CHALLENGES

Back in June a team took on theย Macmillan Cancer Supportย longest day golf challenge. Two teams of four players started playing at 4am and did us proud with their efforts! Theyโ€™ve raised almost ยฃ1,000 for Macmillan, which is incredible. You can still donateย here.

In August, a team took on theย Welsh Three Peaksย challenge, aiming to climb and descendย  Snowdon, Cadair Idris and Pen y Fan in just 24 hours.

They didnโ€™t do that – they smashed it in just 16 hours instead!

And they raised over ยฃ600 for mental health charityย Ponthafrenย in the process. You can still donateย here.

SWGโ€™s marketing executive and liaison officer Natalia Lewiecka took to the streets of Newcastle to complete theย Great North Runย  half marathon in September, in aid of Shineย – a charity which provides specialist support from before birth and throughout the life of anyone living with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus, as well as to parents, families, carers and professional care staff. Sheโ€™s raised over ยฃ700.

WHAT ELSE?

We also donated six tickets forย Circus Starrย to people in the community – because every child deserves a little magic!

We love to help others doing their own projects nearby so we also donated to Friends of Abermule and Abermule Community Council, which you can read more about here.

PLAY YOUR PART

We are incredibly proud of the difference SWG Group has made throughout 2022 so far – we feel we are achieving exactly what we set out to do as we celebrate our anniversary.

With over 50 staff and many contractors across Powys and Shropshire, everyone is on board and taking part – they should all be very proud of their achievements, both in raising money for charity and reaching personal goals.

But itโ€™s only September, thereโ€™s still time to make a difference and thereโ€™s more challenges coming!

Weโ€™ve given you 20 years and weโ€™d love for you to help us give a little something back as we celebrate.

Please donate whenever you can and support those in need throughout our special anniversary year!
