Multiple award nominations for SWG Group

We are delighted to have been shortlisted for a number of national awards for construction projects in Wrexham, Wednesbury and West Bromwich.

SWG Construction projects to revitalise a block of 30 apartments in Thorn Close, Wednesbury, build a development of six new homes in Whitgreave Street, West Bromwich, and the revamp of Wrexham Butchers’ and General Markets have all been nominated for awards.

The Thorn Close project, which involved a major upgrade of 28 apartments and the construction of two new apartments, has been nominated for the Residential Regeneration Project of the Year and the Social Impact Award in the Midlands Residential Property Awards, along with the Retrofit Award in the Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards.

The Whitgreave Street project is shortlisted for the Small Residential Development of the Year in the Midlands Residential Property Awards, and the Wrexham markets project is nominated in the Regeneration and Conservation category in the Construction Excellence Wales Awards.

Jacqui Gough, director of SWG Group, says the firm is proud to have been nominated for so many awards.

She says: “ All of these projects had significant emphasis on sustainability and energy-efficiency, which we have specialist expertise in, so we are particularly pleased that judges have shortlisted these projects for awards.

“We would like to thank Sandwell Council and Wrexham County Borough Council for placing their trust in SWG to carry out these projects and we look forward to delivering more contracts for them in the future.”

The new residential development in Whitgreave Street includes electric car charging facilities and solar PV panels with every home, providing eco-friendly living and reduced energy costs.

The project in Thorn Close has not only improved the quality of housing for residents but also enhanced the surrounding environment with new landscaping, garden roofs, modernised communal spaces and upgraded facilities.

The Grade II-listed Wrexham General and Butchers’ markets were completely refurbished as part of the Wrexham Townscape Heritage Scheme, funded through the National Lottery Heritage Fund (with thanks to the National Lottery Players), Welsh Government – Transforming Towns Fund, and Wrexham County Borough Council capital programme.

SWG Group’s head offices are in Welshpool, with the firm carrying out construction projects across Mid Wales, Shropshire and the West Midlands from its base in Wolverhampton. For more information visit www.swg.co.uk
