2025 Year in Review

As 2025 comes to a close, we are  proud to look back on another year of growth, successful project delivery and positive impact across the communities we serve.

 

Our Work This Year

Over the past year, we delivered a variety of significant projects, including:

  • • Whitgreave Street, West Bromwich, construction of six houses with associated external works achieving EPC A rating for Sandwell Council
    • Thorn Close, refurbishment of an existing occupied apartment block together with four new build apartments for Sandwell Council
    • Coed Pella remodelling works at live Coed Pella Council Offices in Colwyn Bay on behalf of Denbighshire County Council
    • Cotton Hill House – Shropshire Towns and Rural Housing (STAR) Renovation and Conversion to residential apartments
    • Dominoes, Spencer Manufacturing, Ludlow – New Steel Frame and cladding shell construction for a retail unit Dominoes
    • Gornal Wood Crematorium – phased refurbishment and improvement works delivered within a live operational crematorium on behalf of Dudley Council
  • • Madras Primary School – refurbishment of Existing Ancillary Building for Community Use delivered on behalf of Wrexham County Borough Council
    • Much Birch CofE Primary School, Herefordshire Council Window, Rooflight, Render, and Ceiling Replacement
    • Oldford Rise project included communal area improvements on behalf of Powys County Council
    • St Annes Catholic Primary School, Wrexham County Borough Council Renewal of Flat roof coverings and ancillary activities
    • Y Lanfa site expansion and refurbishment works on behalf of Powys County Council
  • • Ysgol Dinas Bran Phase 2 Safeguarding Scheme – external improvement works focused on enhancing pedestrian and vehicular safety.

We are continuing to build momentum, with multiple live projects underway and a strong pipeline of future work well into 2026 and 2027.

 


 

Awards and Recognition

2025 has been a milestone year for SWG. We were appointed to the New Homes for Wales (H2W) Framework by the Welsh Procurement Alliance, enabling us to deliver a range of new-build homes across Wales, from bungalows and apartments to care homes and sheltered accommodation, for both public and private sectors.

Our projects have also received multiple award nominations:

  • • Thorn Close – major refurbishment of 28 apartments and four new-build units – nominated for Residential Regeneration Project of the Year and the Social Impact Award (Midlands Residential Property Awards) and the Retrofit Award (Constructing Excellence West Midlands Awards)
    • Whitgreave Street six energy-efficient homes in West Bromwich – shortlisted for Small Residential Development of the Year (Midlands Residential Property Awards)
    • Wrexham Markets refurbishment nominated in the Regeneration & Conservation category (Construction Excellence Wales Awards)
    • Callaughtons Ash Phase Two, Much Wenlock – shortlisted for Best Affordable Housing Development (Inside Housing Development Awards), delivering 14 sustainable homes combining shared ownership and affordable rent to support local housing needs and rural communities


 Social Value Initiatives

Delivering meaningful social value is central to the way we work. Throughout 2025, we have prioritised sustainable practices, reduced waste, and actively supported the communities in which we operate.

Our teams have collaborated with local partners to provide work experience placements, create employment opportunities, engage with schools and colleges, and contribute to a wide range of charitable and community initiatives. These efforts reflect our commitment to creating lasting value for both our clients and the wider community.

This year, we were proud to support initiatives including:
• Supporting the Severn Hospice Golf Day
• Taking part in the 12 Peaks Snowdonia Challenge in aid of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity
• Sponsoring the Himley Fireworks event
• Donating 60 Easter eggs to the Pertemps Wolverhampton Easter charity initiative, benefiting Newlife Charity, New Cross Hospital Children’s Ward, Compton Hospice, and The Haven Wolverhampton


• Offering five apprenticeship opportunities and additional work experience placements across our sites
• Engaging with schools and colleges through careers events, mock interviews, site visits, and poster competitions.

We also contributed to a variety of other community and charitable initiatives, including the Corporate Parenting Board, Christmas decorations for the new West Bromwich Indoor Market Hall, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Carmarthen Station Open Day – Firefighters Charity, Clwydian Range and Dee Valley, Circus Starr, Shine, 1940s Weekend Welshpool, and the Berriew Show.
